The BC Lions are a professional Canadian football team competing in the West Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Lions play their home games at BC Place in Downtown Vancouver, having previously played at Empire Stadium in East Vancouver from 1954 to 1982. Due to the installation of a retractable roof at BC Place, the Lions played at a temporary stadium located at Empire Field for the 2010 season and for the first five regular season games of the 2011 season.
The Lions played their first season in 1954, making them the youngest franchise in the CFL, and have played every season since. As such, they are the oldest professional sports franchise in the city of Vancouver and in the province of British Columbia. They have appeared in the league’s Grey Cup championship game ten times, winning six of those games, with their most recent championship occurring in 2011.
The Lions are also the only Western Canada team to have won the Grey Cup at home, having done so in 1994 & 2011, while also becoming the only team to beat an American based franchise in a championship game, a feat accomplished in the former game. The Lions currently have the second longest active playoff streak, and fourth longest of all time, having made the playoffs for 15 straight seasons.

2012 Summer Olympics at La Casita Gastown
The Summer Olympics begins Friday, July 27, 2012, and ends Sunday, August 12, 2012.
Watch Olympic games on the HD screen at La Casita Gastown.
Food special & Crazy Drink specials. Come and check them out!
The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad, and also known as London 2012 as per the official logo, are scheduled to take place in London, United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
Following a bid headed by former Olympic champion Sebastian Coe and the then Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, London was selected as the host city on 6 July 2005 during the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, defeating Moscow, New York City, Madrid and Paris. London will become the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
While budgetary considerations for the games have generated some criticism, they have also been welcomed by others as having prompted a redevelopment of many of the areas of London in which events are to be held – particularly themed towards sustainability. The main focus of the games will be a new 200 hectare Olympic Park, constructed on a former industrial site at Stratford in the east of London. The Games also make use of many venues which were already in place before the bid.
